Ubiquitous Computing Research Group

The Toronto Ubicomp Research Group (TorURG) is located within the Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto. We perform research in the areas of human-computer interaction (HCI) and ubiquitous computing (ubicomp), most often investigating problems at their intersection. Specifically, we focus on the design and evaluation of:

  • Underlying input / output pervasive technologies;
  • Novel interaction techniques;
  • Ubicomp applications such as automated capture and access to live experiences, context-aware computing, assistive technology, and systems that encourage or support the user in performing environment friendly actions;
  • Social issues surrounding the proliferation and adoption of ubicomp.
